Our Story
We first fell in love with Lake Keowee and The Cliffs years ago, long before making the move here in 2020. Friends from Chicago wondered why we would want a house "in the middle of nowhere." However, it only took one visit for friends and family to understand what drew us to this magical place.
We wanted more than just a house. We wanted a lifestyle. The mountains and the lake give us the kind of peace we were seeking, and being in a golf community means we have everything we love right at our doorstep. Morning walks along the water, afternoons on the course, evenings with friends around the fire. It’s the rhythm we didn’t know we were missing. There’s a sense of space here, both inside our home and all around us, that lets us slow down and truly enjoy life. The views are breathtaking, the community feels welcoming, and every day feels a little like a vacation.
Through many moves over the years, we discovered how much passion we had for creating homes that feel one-of-a-kind and capture the beauty of the lifestyle we love. At the same time, we realize that many people want to step into this kind of life without the stress of managing every detail. They want the ease of turnkey, but without losing the craftsmanship and personalization that make a home feel uniquely theirs. That’s why we decided to build custom luxury homes here. We want to share what we fell in love with, and to create a way for others to experience it effortlessly.

The MHK House reimagines the role of art in architecture by elevating nature as the primary artistic expression. Trees, skies, seasons, mountains, and the lake become the central aesthetic, framed by architecture that honors rather than competes with its setting. It’s a home built on presence with mornings gazing at mist lifting off the lake, and evenings beneath stars. ​Framing the outdoors is at the heart of the design. Floor-to-ceiling glass and sliding walls transform views into living art, while water features and layered reflections blur the line between house and landscape. Interiors are kept open and quiet, allowing light, weather, and the drama of the natural world define the experience. ​Every detail reinforces a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Rain chains, stone paths, and landscaped courtyards echo the shoreline aesthetic. A nature-first material palette of reclaimed wood, stone, steel, and glass age gracefully over time, while soft furnishings invite gathering and connection. The MHK house is a timeless masterpiece where family and friends will share love and memories for generations to come.
The Hermitage House

The Hermitage House is a contemporary retreat that harmonizes with its mountain and lakefront setting while reimagining how living spaces can connect. The design takes inspiration from natural topography, where layers of earth, rock, and water overlap to form a landscape that is both functional and beautiful. At its core, the house is built around a circular, layered design, with each level wrapping around the other to create a sense of flow and interconnection. Instead of traditional stacked floors, spaces are slightly offset, fitting together like a puzzle. This creates unique sightlines, seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor areas, and a dynamic sense of movement throughout the home. Views shift with each step—expansive mountain vistas from one level, tranquil lake reflections from another—making the home an immersive experience rather than a static dwelling. The result is a residence that feels sculptural yet livable, bold yet deeply attuned to its setting. It is less a singular house than a series of interlocking moments. The Hermitage House is an architectural concept where function, artistry, and landscape merge into a layered narrative of modern luxury.

Perched high on a hilltop, this lakefront retreat is designed to embrace both its elevated vantage point and the natural beauty that surrounds it. The home is centered around a stunning pool and courtyard, with the main living areas radiating outward to create a private yet open-air sanctuary.​Walls of glass frame sweeping views of the lake, while expansive sliding doors allow the living, dining, and kitchen spaces to fully open to the outdoors. This seamless flow blurs the line between inside and out, transforming the courtyard into the heart of the home—a place for gathering, entertaining, or quiet reflection. ​Every angle is intentional: from the pool’s reflection of the sky to the panoramic windows that capture shifting light over the water.
